Business leaders are often big on symbolism. They realize the power of the strong evocative image. What we are seeing before us is not the perception of something gone awry in the financial world but something immoral. This I believe is the chief difference here. CE0s have either lost the ability or choose not to discern the difference be what is legal and what is immoral. Our sense of moral ambiguity has led us to the point where we've come to. Where is the outrage at the ramped looting that is going on before our eyes? This previous administration and, possibly this current one are encouraging and rewarding those that are robbing the citizenry and helping to cause the collapse of the economy. Why are Bernanke and Paulson not being sent to prison to do hard time for this? This happened on their watch and they knew this would happen. Only when we regain our moral bearings can we even hope to bring about true social justice. Obama is a tremendous help but he's only one man. It will take all of us to set things right. With a few exceptions, people who tend to be really good at literary understanding (students and teachers alike), are also very good at human understanding.
